There are a variety of methods available for intercultural trai

ning that can be divided into cognitive methods such as lectures, written materials and – more recently – computer- based training and video materials, and active methods, including role plays and simulation games. Methods can be culture general or culture specific and, depending on the combination

of methods, the desired outcomes would be knowledge, skills development, and attitude change. All approaches have the common feature that they work best in combination and when executed by a skilled trainer.Interculturally competent employees positively influence international business relationships

. Marketing managers have to deal with intercultural differences in their day to day work life and new marketing trends bring new challenges involving cultural issues. With the help of a quantitative survey targeting B2B marketing managers in the DACH region this Thesis examined the influence of int

ercultural training on the work performance of marketing employees. The participants rated their performance with help of self-assessment inventories. The results proved that the participation in intercultural training positively influences the work performance of marketing managers, their intercult

ural competence, and the performance of their marketing department. Those respondents, that already participated in intercultural training performed on average 18% better regarding their work performance, 21% better as to their intercultural competence and the performance of their marketing departme

nt was 18% higher. This shows the significant benefit that intercultural training constitutes for marketing managers and the companies they are working for.At 54%, slightly more than half of all marketing managers have already participated in intercultural training. Intercultural training was percei

ved as effective by the majority of those who had participated in training, and intercultural competences as well as intercultural training are perceived as important by the majority of marketing managers, which is positive. nagers are recommended to make use of the offer when their employer offers intercultural training, and to actively encourage their employer to provide training possibilities.Furthermore, the empirical research showed that certain methods like video materials and computer-based training are the metho

ds most favored by marketing managers, whilst lectures and written materials are the least favored. This should be taken into consideration by intercultural trainers and training companies when designing their program for marketing managers.
